HOW WE MET
Our story began on a sunny afternoon at a mutual friend’s art gallery opening in Washington, D.C. Ella Johnson was there admiring a stunning piece by a local artist when she caught the eye of Maya Bennett, who was in town for a work conference. What started as a conversation about art soon turned into hours of laughter and stories shared over coffee. From that moment, we knew our connection was something truly extraordinary.
OUR ADVENTURES TOGETHER
We’ve spent our time together exploring the vibrant culture and history of D.C., from visiting the National Gallery of Art to walking the trails of Rock Creek Park. We’ve enjoyed weekend getaways to the Eastern Shore, tried new restaurants, and spent countless evenings discovering live music at our favorite venues. Whether we’re wandering the streets of Capitol Hill or dancing in our living room to our favorite songs, we’ve found that life is always better when we’re together.
THE PROPOSAL
Maya proposed on a crisp fall day at the Tidal Basin. Surrounded by the glow of the cherry blossoms and the quiet hum of the city, she got down on one knee and asked Ella to spend forever with her. Ella’s eyes welled with tears as she said yes, and the moment was filled with joy, love, and the sounds of celebration from passersby.
WHY DC?
D.C. is more than just our home—it’s where we built our love and created countless memories. From late-night talks by the Lincoln Memorial to the excitement of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, this city has been a backdrop to so many meaningful moments in our relationship. It’s only fitting that we celebrate our wedding here, surrounded by the beauty and history that has been such an important part of our story.
